Athletic socks come in many different styles, depending on your personal
preferences and your athletic needs. One very popular style of athletic socks is the low-cut, no-show sock;
this style covers the whole foot and stops right at the ankle.
The benefit of this type of sock is that they provide the comfort and dryness of a more
traditional style sock but they are not visible above the wearer’s shoe line. Athletic socks also come in
ankle-high and calf height styles. Some athletes like to purchase colored athletic socks when participating in team
sports in order to show their team spirit and unity.
Athletic socks are typically a type of 100% cotton socks, as this type of fabric is
the most breathable and dries fairly quickly. It is also lightweight and does not get as hot as some other
fabrics.
Some athletic socks feature a built-in support system that wraps around the arch of the foot.
This provides stabilization and support to athletes, especially those whose feet have higher arches and may
otherwise experience minor pain when exercising.
Another popular feature of athletic socks is including Nike’s Dri-FIT or other type of
technology that whisks away moisture from the feet, keeping them dry and comfortable throughout the wearer’s
workout.

Athletic socks, including specialized soccer
socks, can be purchased anywhere that other sporting supplies are sold, as well as at other
retailers. Dick’s Sporting Goods and Modell’s Sporting Goods carry a wide range of athletic socks for both
men and women, in differing sizes and styles, from basic white
cotton socks to styles with additional features and benefits, like arch support and quick-dry capabilities.
Another good place to look for athletic socks is at mass discount retailers such as Target and
Wal-Mart. These stores sell a variety of different athletic socks, often in multi-packs, at very reasonable prices.
In addition to basic athletic socks, they also carry some more advances styles similar to the ones you would find
in a specialized sporting goods store. If you are looking for a particular color of athletic socks other than
white, you may want to look on the Internet for a broader product selection.
